Work Experience at the Worker's Compensation Board

I worked with the Workers' Compensation Board of Alberta from 1987 to April/May 1992.
For the first two years, I worked on a contract. My job, at that time, involved working in
the medical division that was in charge of Assessment of Clinical Impairment and Disability.
At that time, the Workers' Compensation Board was using a permanent partial
disability rating schedule. I developed extensive experience in examination of patients
to assess Clinical Impairment and Disability as per the Guides to the Evaluation of Clinical
Impairment of the Workers' Compensation Board of Alberta.

From 1989 to 1991, I worked as an independent consultant to the Workers'
Compensation Board of Alberta. My duties involved examining patients who had
suffered musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries as per the Guides to the Evaluation of
Permanent Clinical Impairment of the American Medical Association as well as the
Workers' Compensation Board Guides for the Evaluation of Clinical Impairment and
Disability.

For almost a year (1990), I worked as a special consultant to the Appeals Commission of
the Workers' Compensation Board. My position involved working solely for the Appeals
Commission of the Workers' Compensation Board. The Appeals Commission is an
independent body, which reviews appeals of the decisions of the Workers'
Compensation Board of Alberta. My job involved discussion and clarifying
musculoskeletal and soft tissue problems (in the files and reports that were presented to
the Appeals Commission).

From about 1990 to 1991, I also worked as a consultant for the Workers' Compensation
Rehabilitation Department. The Workers' Compensation Rehabilitation Department and
Rehabilitation Centre is a facility where injured workers with musculoskeletal and soft
tissue injuries undergo rehabilitation, work conditioning, functional evaluation, and
assessment for further treatments. My job involved assessing these patients and
recommending various precautions and suggestions regarding rehabilitating the injured
workers.
